One of the strongest inspirer for film media colleagues the 79 years P.G.Srinivasamurthy sudden exit from this earth was condoled in a meet on Wednesday evening at Press Club of Bangalore. The attendance of media friends showed the love and affection which PGS had earned.

The senior colleagues in film journalism and veteran Dwarakish, Lahari Recording Velu were part of the condolence meet.

Here is what the speakers said remembering the gem of a personality PGS:

DWARAKISH – PGS was very well known to me for 46 years of the 48 years of my film career. We were addressing singularly, cracked jokes attended innumerable parties and many years the New Year was celebrated in Madras (now Chennai). I feel that I share a blood relation with PGS and Chi Udayashanker family. In Madras PGS and Chi Udayashanker were in one building. The Guggu Mahal where all Kannada artists used to join to read only newspaper that was reaching. That is Prajavani and PGS used to write for it. Looking the films that are mentioned we used to go the producers to find opportunity. He was wanted by big stars in those like Rajanna, Panthulu.

PGS and wife Padma Adarsha Dhampathigalu! I would take care of the family of PGS till my last breath and even my children would follow it.

SADASHIVA SHENOY – He was the winner of hearts of 19 to 79. in the days there was no channel, dot coms etc PGS flourished. How much he has contributed so much did not come as respect for him. The Madhaya Academy and others did not notice the contribution of PGS. The experience of PGS went along with him and that should have been stored. He was Jeevantha Saakshi. He has written a book on 75 years of Kannada cinema and Press Club is shortly releasing it.

R.G.VIJAYASARATHY – He always remain in my memory. The couple – PGS and his wife Padma were permanent invitees of all my family functions. I had quarreled with him recently on the sale of shares and said ‘Nimage Vayassu Aithu’. He got annoyed to it and said ‘Nana Vayassu Aithu Antha Helbedi’. The link PGS had with elders and youngsters was very good. Like how it is said ‘Sharanara Shreshtathe Savinalli Kana Beku’ all the colleagues were at his residence around 8 am on Tuesday shows the earning of respect by PGS.

B.N.SUBRAMANYA – It was during the days of Chitradeepa I was told by Dr Vijayamma to contact PGS on the exact date of first Kannada film release. My association started from those days. He was walking encyclopedia. He was instrumental in solving various controversies and keeping controversies away PGS always developed the habit and made others to follow it. I was with him for 18 years in the film festivals. This years some how he said I am not coming but Dr Jayamala forced him to come. I have made papers ready and was supposed to inform on last Tuesday.

DG VENKATESH PRO – He was very Swabhimana vyakthi. I was with him sleeping on one cot at Mysore sharing one bed sheet. Going to Nimishamba temple was because of the force made by PGS in his last assignment to ‘Hudga Hudgi’ to Mysore.

NAGENDRA PRO – Chikkavarige Chikkavaragi, doddavarige Doddavaragi he lived as torch bearer. At Bangalore palace one of the functions he was walking with me. Suddenly one car passed and in full white Dr Rajakumar got down and said ‘Banni PGS why are you walking, sit in the car’. PGS preferred to walk with me Ramakrishna and Vijayakumar on that day showed his wonderful behavior.

LAHARI VENU – He was Mrudhi…very soft even when asking for a drop to Chamrajpet. The half an hour time I spent with him gave me more knowledge about such a gem.

B GANAPATHI – Namage Nele bele Illa! Samajiya Vyavaharika saha we are not valued fraternity of film journalism. PGS was Maharathi. He was so sober, soft and Satwika path he grew up. The demise of him did not create any sound or Sanchalana in the film industry. That would also leave an impressions if others die it would be hopeless without an iota of respect from KFI. Giving Gowrava and Maryadhe no one should tell. He was not explaining his needs and he never demanded. For the height of disrespect shown by KFI we should teach them a lesson in some way or the other.

SURESHCHANDRA – PGS did not write any moving articles is a fact but he was also a man of knowledge, excellent behavior and seen the growth of cinema field. We should not ask from anyone to do something for PGS. It is not the right way. We should collective strengthen and do on our own. He lives in many of us memories. He knew the in-depth of many of the film personalities. Cinema journalism is not taken seriously and no legislator known anyone of our names. Kannada cinema journalists have taken all sorts of pains but did not get anything to worth remember. There is a strong void in giving accurate information with the passing away of PGS.

SHARAN HULLUR – There is a real dearth now. In the name of PGS we can do something I would follow seniors instructions.

YATHIRAJ – He did not get the right respect. It is high time we need a platform. Even at this stage it can be formed. We all step up for good work for ourselves.

K.M.VEERESH – PGS has given me lot of information and upgraded my knowledge. Dr Raj saluting the Hanuman photo at High Lands hotel is something special one. PGS took me to that place to click the pictures. There are so many ‘Niguda Information’ he used tell. It is time for all of us to give in the book format to give significance of this gentleman PGS.

GANESH KASARGOD – Whenever I used to wear this black shirt PGS used to ask whether it is protest or Shraddanjali. It is Shraddanjali today. PGS used to keep a bag always and never used to drop it anywhere. He had just Rs.2000 in his bag and his intention was to help our colleagues in case of difficulty. In fact I owe Rs.2000 to him. Once near his house he took Rs.2000 from his purse and showed it to his wife Padma see Ganesh Kasargod has given the money he has taken. What one should say for this? When I used to scream for mistakes I used to look at PGS and he was just giving a smile.

Looking at the Shavasamkara of PGS I will write in my book that my Shavasamskara should be held in Kasargod. PGS I will come and give your Rs.2000.

Prithvi Banavasi who knew PGS when he was child was surprise attendance at the Shraddanjali meet of PGS.
